A Brief Interlude with my Seeds & Flowers Memebox: Unboxing & First Impressions [with brand & ingredient info]

This is the first Memebox I’ve received in some time and the last I have on order. This feels incredibly strange after the whirlwind love affair we shared not long ago. It’s not yet clear where Memebox is heading in it’s evolution, but this is the only box of late that elicited an excitement in me and made me feel that I want/need whatever is inside.
Alas, I was a little late on the draw in purchasing it, but to my surprise and delight, Memebox offered to send me one for review. A sort of last hurrah for the few, remaining boxes that would be shipping from Korea. I feel really fortunate to have had this opportunity as this actually feels like a Memebox of old. I truly hope these aren’t entirely a thing of the past.
Alright, enough with this wistful chatter. On to the box!

Impressions: I don’t yet have an emulsion step in my routine and was on the fence about whether I needed one, as I have combination skin so my thought was that either the emulsion would take the place of my cream/moisturizer or it’s just not necessary. It seems it was meant to be that this emulsion came into my life because it showed me how parched my skin has actually become in this harsh, New England winter and that it could absolutely handle and be happy with a multi-step hydration process. So I have been using this under my regular day moisturizer (I don’t feel it necessary at night, as I already layer cream and sleeping pack). As with most emulsions, this is a lotion-like viscosity. It feels light and absorbs beautifully. True to the theme of the box, it has a fairly strong flora scent. I don’t mind it at all, but those who are sensitive to strong scents may. I’m always pleased when Memebox includes a brand that focuses on natural ingredients. This one is geared toward a younger clientele, but that really doesn’t phase me as all it really means is that we get cute packaging in addition to the powerhouse ingredients.

echoice iris mist

ECHOICE Perfume Body Mist Dear Iris (120ml, RV $4)
This refreshing perfumed body mist lightly scents the skin with the clean, beautifully feminine scent of Iris flowers while providing hydration and antioxidant benefits. The fresh fragrance captures the citrusy top notes, floral middle note, and a sensuous base note to lift the spirits! Never overpowering or overwhelming, the subtle fragrance hydrates the skin and enchants the spirits with lovely florals.

Impressions: I agree with the provided description in that this is a very subtle, floral scent. I don’t, however, feel it’s complex enough to speak to ranges of notes. I was concerned this would be a scent better-suited to a ‘mature’ woman (something about Iris just elicits that impression for me), but I think it’s certainly wearable for someone younger who enjoys fresh, floral scents. It seems to dissipate INCREDIBLY quickly though. I may start to utilize it as a sheet spray or some other sort of fabric refresher. ECHOICE has the impression of a ‘bargain brand’, just based on the few products from them that I’ve come across, but I don’t have many complaints about their overall quality. Unfortunately, I’m finding it impossible to locate an english list of ingredients for this item and am unable address the hydrating claims above. I haven’t really noticed this doing anything beyond imparting a scent, but that would be sufficient honestly. I was mostly curious to see if this contained alcohol, which most fragrances do, and that would make me further dubious about this aiding in hydration.

sevendrops moringa sunblock

SEVENDROPS Moringa Light Sunlock (50g, RV $38)
This fast-absorbing, ultra-lightweigh fluid provides daily protection against broad-spectrum UVA/UVB damage. Miraculous moringa tree extract combined with antioxidant-rich nutrients and UVA/UVB protecting actives to delay signs of aging caused by sun and environmental stressors. Moringa extract, a beauty essential to ancient kings and queens, was part of daily beauty routine due to its hydrating and repairing abilities. The sheer formular has a silky texture and weightless feel, designed to apply smoothly on top of other skincare products and under makeup for a soft, matte finish.

Impressions: Memebox has included sunblock in a lot of their boxes and many people are seriously over it, but I’m always happy to receive more. We have a pool that gives me minor anxiety due to the inherent sun exposure, so every little bit helps! 😉 This sunblock, in particular, looks fantastic. It offers some major protection [SPF 50+/PA+++] and is a lovely, light texture that won’t feel heavy or ‘suffocating’ under makeup. I’m also loving that this does double-duty by providing antioxidant benefits as well. I know I should be wearing sunblock daily, but I am really not seeing much sun these days, so I’m looking forward to trying this once spring is upon us!

kskin rose cream memebox

KSKIN Rose Moisture & Nutrition Facial Cream (100ml, RV $8)
This facial cream is formulated with Bulgarian rose, trelahose, and a range of ingredients that moisturize and brighten the complexion. Bulgarian rose, a natural source of vitamin C, helps repair the look of fine lines and skin discolorations, and provides continuous moisturization by regulating the moisture equilibrium of the skin.
kskin kskin2 kskin3

: This seems to be a thick cream with what I imagine would be a rose scent. I honestly don’t even want to open this, as I know it won’t suit my combo skin and rose scents can easily go either way (great or terrible). This looks to contain a host of lovely ingredients, so I hope to share this with dry-skinned individual who likes their florals.

ernesti cleanser memebox

ENESTI Rose Hip Oil Foaming Cleanser (120ml, RV $15)
Deeply cleanse skin and lift away impurities with this luxurious rose hip oil infused cleanser. Powered by rose hip oil and mineral water, this non-drying formula bursts into a rich lather when activated with water to deep-clean pores, instantly refresh skin, and give you a naturally luminous glow. With gradual use, you’ll notice that skin is brighter, smoother, and younger look[ing].

Impressions: I absolutely adore this packaging. So pretty! Unfortunately, this is another item I will have to pass on. While I’ve really enjoyed some ENESTI products, their cleansers have a fairly high pH [8-9] along with some other triggers (see above), which do not at all agree with my skin. I wish it were otherwise because I like their aesthetic and affordability.

purederm mask memebox

PUREDERM Lavender Collagen Pulp Mask (18ml, RV $2)
100% pure pulp sheet-type masks, these famous Purederm Pulp Masks address the most common skincare concerns such as aging, dullness, rough texture, irritation, and dryness. When used regularly, this lavender infused mask will deliver deep nutrition and replenishment to tired, sensitive skin and help maintain a healthy, glowing complexion.

purederm purederm2

Impressions: I really enjoy this line of masks. I’ve only tried a couple of the Choco Cacao variety previously, but was taken aback by the positive effect on my skin even after a single use. This will be a nice mask to use in the evening, as the scent of lavender is often used for calming aromatherapy. Again, wishing that Memebox would have included at least a couple, but single masks certainly seem to be the standard.

Overall Impressions

This box cost $25 + shipping and had a Memevalue of $88, with a couple of items being slightly inflated, as they could be found cheaper [per usual]. The overall value is certainly lower than most boxes we’ve seen from Meme in the past, but I am on the whole satisfied with this one. While two of the items are unsuitable for my skin, the others I really do like. This essentially being a mystery box, you can’t win them all, but I think the items I am keeping and enjoying would have made the purchase worthwhile.

What I’m seeing from Memebox US right now is a couple mystery boxes like those we’re used to (at a higher price) but mostly what they previously might have called Value Sets. They are essentially ‘naked’ boxes with the contents exposed and the cost being very close to their value. I’m sincerely not seeing the appeal and think that a lot of the people around for Meme’s ‘golden age’ feel much the same. But they are clearly trying to bring in new customers and, for them, this may still be an exciting avenue into Korean beauty. Most of what’s been recently available is showing as sold out, so something they’re doing must be working. I look forward to seeing what’s to come.

One item of note that’s currently available and does look very appealing is the Memebox x Soothing Sista Eyeshadow Quad collab. The price is reasonable, colors are lovely, and Memebox shadows have always been a great quality.

  1. I think I’m quite glad that it isn’t a bunny! I have enough of that when I use the Daltokki Scrub from the Empresses Secrets Box with their version of a scary cartoon bunny! I’m actually buying that emulsion from a girl in the UK FB group, so glad to know that it is good 🙂

  2. Great review! I’m definitely not sorry that I passed on this box even though it was one of my last chances to get one. I feared they were going to go more flower than seed and it looks like I was right.

I find it amusing that many bloggers were over the sunscreen in memebox but, I received over 15 boxes and never got a single tube. And, like you, I enjoy sunscreen.
